San Bernardino Humane Society

UHS Students at hospital

Students from the Upland High School HOPE academy participated in a site visit event at the San Bernardino Humane Society on December 11th.

Humane Presentation

The students were given a presentation by Lynn Hilderbrand, Humane educator who overviewed the human resource aspects of the site. The students then went on a tour of the facility with Christina Marin, clients services supervisor. The students were able to see Registered Vet Techs in action. Students then rotated through sessions where they discussed ethics and responsibility with Humane officers Frank Padilla and Mike Ashbaker. The final rotation was a session on interviewing techniques with lead RVT Jamie Womer. The highlight of the day was Rumor, the therapy dog, introduced by Lisa Medina who spoke about the role of animals in mental health. The students had an amazing day!
