Upland Business Academy students will gain proficiency and understanding of the business, finance, marketing, fashion and e-commerce worlds. The core academic offerings and business courses will prepare students for college and career opportunities. The academy supports high expectations for all students and gives students personalized instruction as well as career planning.  Using the latest technology in our 21st Century classrooms, students will acquire the skills and ability necessary to prepare for both college and a career while in high school.

Best Job Outlook for the Future

The National Association of Colleges and Employers states that the Business field is a growing and stable career area.  Top occupational areas in very high demand are:  Accounting, Technology, Web Development and Sales Management.

Scholarships and Recognition

Students in the UHS Business Academy who complete all academy requirements will be given special recognition at the UHS Senior Awards Night.  Scholarships are available for students that complete the Business Academy.

College Credit

Get a head start on college credits by enrolling in one of the academy classes that can earn college credits!  Business Academy students may enroll in courses that have articulation agreements with local colleges for college credit and advanced placement.

Future Business Leaders of America

Academy students have the opportunity to join the nation-wide Future Business Leaders of America student organization.  Through FBLA, students increase their leadership skills and participate in business related activities.  FBLA allows students to meet new people, develop teamwork skills, network and be a part of social/community service activities.

 It’s FBLAmazing!

Internships/Exploratory Work Experience

Real world training is an important component of the Business Academy.  To help facilitate student contact and learning in the real world, students may enroll in the Business Academy Exploratory Work Experience.  This component is essential for students interested in using life-long skills in the workplace.  With support from the community, learning will take place beyond the classroom in local businesses.

An important component of the Business Academy is the connection between UHS and the partnership with community business leaders.  Partnerships provide students with real-world context and provide valuable information to the business curriculum.  As advisory members, business partners will help guide the development of academy programs and assist students in their career guidance.
